HYROX Nutrition Coaching for Athletes at Every Level
HYROX Nutrition Coaching
HYROX has gone from a niche fitness race to one of the fastest-growing competitive sports on the planet, with more than two million athletes expected to race in 2026 across events on six continents. If you’re training for one, your fueling strategy matters as much as your programming — and it’s not the same as fueling for a marathon or a CrossFit class.
H2O Nutrition, led by Andrea Dacey, RDN, CSSD, builds HYROX-specific nutrition plans for athletes training for their first race or chasing a competitive division time. Andrea has a personal passion for the sport and works with HYROX athletes at every level — first-timers, doubles teams, and competitive-division racers.
Why HYROX Needs Its Own Fueling Strategy
HYROX alternates eight 1km runs with eight functional-fitness stations — SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. That combination creates a unique metabolic demand: you need the glycogen availability of an endurance athlete and the power output of a strength athlete, often for 60–90+ minutes straight. Underfuel for the run segments and your stations fall apart. Underfuel for the stations and your run splits slow in the back half.
What a HYROX Nutrition Plan Includes
Training-block periodization — adjusting carbohydrate and protein intake as your training shifts from base building to race-specific work
Race-week carb strategy — how and when to carb-load without feeling flat or heavy on race morning
Race-day fueling timing — what to eat pre-race, whether you need fuel mid-race, and how to avoid GI distress during the sled and burpee stations
Hydration and electrolyte planning — especially important for indoor, high-heat venues
Recovery nutrition — rebuilding glycogen and muscle protein between hard training sessions so you can train again the next day
Body composition guidance — for athletes who want to shift weight class or improve power-to-weight ratio without sacrificing strength
Who This Is For

How Sessions Work
Work with Andrea in person in Boston, MA or San Diego, CA, or via telehealth nationwide. Most HYROX athletes start with a full nutrition assessment, then move into a periodized plan aligned to their race calendar. See pricing for session details.
FAQ
What’s included in HYROX nutrition coaching?
A full nutrition assessment, a periodized fueling plan tied to your training calendar (base building through race week), race-day fueling and hydration strategy, and ongoing check-ins to adjust your plan as training progresses. See our full HYROX Nutrition Coach page for the phase-by-phase breakdown.
Do you offer virtual HYROX nutrition coaching, or only in person?
Both. Andrea works with athletes in person in San Diego, CA and Boston, MA, and via telehealth nationwide, so your location doesn’t limit access to individualized HYROX-specific coaching.
How soon before my race should I start nutrition coaching?
Ideally at the start of your training block, 8–16 weeks out, so your fueling can be periodized alongside your training rather than bolted on last minute. That said, athletes who join closer to race day still benefit, particularly from race-week and race-day fueling strategy.
Do you work with HYROX doubles or relay teams?
Yes. Doubles and relay athletes have coordination needs — shared fueling windows, transition timing — that solo racers don’t, and coaching can be structured around the team’s actual race format.
Is HYROX nutrition coaching only for competitive athletes?
No. First-time HYROX competitors who aren’t sure how to eat around training make up a large share of the athletes Andrea works with, alongside competitive-division racers optimizing for time.
How do I get started?
